What is a Ropes Challenge Course?
The Ropes Course is an outdoor adventure experience of mental and physical challenges utilizing ropes, balance beams, strategic games, cables, and utility poles. Ropes Course challenges demand clear communication, effective planning, and committed action in order to succeed.

There are both low and high elements on the course. Low elements require groups to work together to complete specific tasks. High elements are characterized by heart-pounding, adrenaline-rushing, palm-sweating "perceived high risk" activities. The activities may include any number of events that require participants to work through their fears and anxieties to function in a challenging, alien environment. Climbing, swinging, and/or jumping may be required as participants traverse through the high elements.

"Our Region IX students who participate in Chaparral Ropes Training are the beneficiaries of an enjoyable and unique learning experience. It's a first-rate course, beautiful setting, and the facilitators are excellent."
Gayno Shelton, Education Specialist & PAL Coordinator for Region IX Education Service Center

Why bring your group to the Chaparral Ropes Course?

1. Teamwork, Teamwork, Teamwork!
Ropes Course Challenges will force the group to work together to accomplish a common goal. Patsy Bernard of MyStaf says, "Powerful! Exhilarating! Awesome! It is a team-building exercise that teaches trust in one another as well as in one's self. It is truly a great learning experience."

2. Fun!!
The ropes course is always a time of great fun. It is a great way to get away from the world for a few hours and enjoy the members of the group. Groups that have enjoyed the Chaparral Ropes Course since it opened in 1994 include church youth groups, church leaders (deacons, pastors, ministers), couples retreats, collegiate, high school, and junior high athletic teams, end of school year parties for 3rd grade and up, adult leadership groups, birthday parties, and many local businesses that wish to see their group have fun together in a relaxed environment.

3. Camaraderie
As participants learn to rely on one another in an outdooradventure context, a sense of camaraderie develops that focuses the competitive energies of individual team members on the goals of the group.
